In collaboration with national and international research organizations, CNES plays a major role in the definition and development of Earth Observation space projects. In this regard, CNES participates to the inter-agency THEIA land data service; a multi-center service offering the scientific community and public policy actors a vast array of images products from the space observations of continental surfaces.
In the framework of the THEIA project, CNES has developed a data center to process space-based Earth observation images (Sentinal2, LandSat, SPOT, …). This center, based at CNES' high performance computing center (HPC), hosts complex image processing algorithms (orthorectification, atmospheric correction, ground usage, …).
As part of the THEIA project team within the Earth Observation directorate, the post holder will be responsible for the integration of new processing chains within the ground infrastructure; defining the software architecture and interfaces ensuring seamless compatibility with the HPC. The post holder in direct collaboration with the scientific partners will also be responsible for the technical validation, the operational qualification through to production. The post holder will furthermore be responsible for evolutions to the processing chains once in production.
The post holder will interface directly with the ground system manager at CNES, the experts with the High Performance Computing center and the scientific partners.
